PANE as a network is representing member CSOs and the wider Civil Society in different policy forums such as the PBS, the Cotonou Task force and other national and international involvement. Accordingly the following activities have been done representing CSOs.

Annual Progress Review: Facilitating and coordinating the engagement of CSOs in PASDEP: In this regard PANE has prepared and distributed an official response into the 2005/06-2006/07 PASDEP Annual Progress Reviews to the Government, CSOs, Donors, etc..;

Protecting Basic Services (PBS) is another area that has brought an opportunity to represent civil society as well as engage them in issues of component 4 of the PBS Project on Social Accountability. In this regard PANE has contributed much for Ethiopian Civil Society by being represented in the national steering committee.

Cotonou Task Force: PANE’s co-chair of the Cotonou Taskforce, representing Ethiopian Civil Society, which is a very important forum to engage with government and donors on the issues of development, poverty reduction, MDGs, CS capacity building etc. It also would enable PANE to engage with other African, Caribbean and Pacific states and with European states in various fields such as political, economic, social, cultural, trade and environmental issues.

CSOs Enabling Environment: Chairing the National task force on enabling environment for civil society organizations in Ethiopia. In this regard PANE has coordinted the Task Force which is organized to comment and feed back to the relevant government institutions on the draft Charities and Societies proclamation.
The task force since its establ;ishment has made a lot of efforts to provide inputs and comments to the government for the improvment of the draft legislation ( read more the interview made with Ato Tesema, coordinator of the taski force secretariat)
