The Capacity Building, Planning, Monitoring and Evalaution (CB, PME) section is one of the three functional line sections of PANE secretariat. The CD, PME section as its name indicates is mainly engaged in activities of community development focusing on capacity building of local government bodies, monitoring progress of the PASDEP implementation from the CSOs standpoint and familiarization of stakeholders about global and national poverty reduction policies and strategies with a view to enhancing effective implementation of the plan and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). More specifically, the section, among others, is entrusted with the following major responsibilities.
- Initiate and strengthen MDG-based planning, monitoring and evaluation at local level involving local Government bodies, CSOs and other development partners to facilitate and enhance broad-based ownership and participation of various partners in development for successful implementation of the PASDEP and MDGs,
- Capacitate and equip partners and local level development actors through training, research, material and technical support for further engagement in the policy processes and accomplishment of the institutional objectives of the secretariat,
- Popularize and familiarize the global and national poverty reduction policies (viz. MDGs and PASDEP), strategies and other issues pertaining to the uplifting of the welfare of citizens of the country for a concerted effort to eradicate poverty out of the country,
- Monitor PASDEP’s implementation and provide inputs on outstanding issues and on the ways forward for furthering enhanced execution of the plan from the CSOs point of view.
